One of the very common faults on the iPhone 6 plus (and the iPhone 6) is touch disease.
Some of the common symptoms are, Grey bars at the top of the screen, Unresponsive touch screen, screen freezing and having to restart or bend the phone for the touch screen to work again.
This problem is caused by flexion of the board inside the phone, every movement in the housing passes through to the motherboard and over time traces are damaged in the motherboard. In the 6 plus the M1 pad under the touch ic breaks away from its track and causes touch disease, when the phone is twisted in a certain way or reset sometimes the connection is restored and this is why the issue can be intermittent.
Micro soldering repairs are able to remove the meson, the touch ic, run a jumper wire to repair the broken trace and restore connection to the M1 pad, we will then reball the touch ic and reflow it in place,?resolving the issue and restoring full touch functionality. We use the latest tools to do these jobs including a bottom heater to ensure that no other component is damaged during this repair.
The jumper wire put in place is much stronger and less vulnerable than the original trace, meaning further flexion of the motherboard will not cause the connection to break in the future.

Another very common failure on iPhones is the classic searching or no service fault. Where the phone will constantly search for signal or show no service, even when there is no sim card installed!
This fault is related to the baseband in the phone and can be caused by many components.
A good way to test if this is a baseband issue is to dial *#06# and see if your imei number pops up on the screen. If not you are very likely to have a baseband issue.
In the iPhone 6 there is a weak spot under the baseband where traces often break, in the iPhone 7 the power management chip for the baseband fails, on all models shorts on certain lines can also cause this issue.
Most of these issues can be repaired as long as the baseband IC itself is not faulty, and with our experience we are able to diagnose and fix most searching/no service problems on iPhones.
There is a very common issue on the iPhone 7 series caused by the audio ic. This issue usually starts with a phone taking a very long time to boot (sometimes 5 minutes) and intermittent problems with hearing people and people hearing you on the phone.
As the fault develops further the speaker phone option will be greyed our, voice memos won’t work and sometimes the phone will get stuck on the apple logo.
These are all very common symptoms, and can all be resolved by removing the audio ic, repairing broken traces to pads, there is usually one main line that breaks which is the c12 pad.
When we repair audio issues on the iPhone 7 we will run jumper cables to 4 different pads making sure that the issue will not return again in the future.
The jumper cables that are installed are much stronger than the original board traces making this a long term fix. On the rare occasion that the IC itself is faulty we can also replace this to guarantee a true fix.
